Bargains Abound at T.G.I. Friday’s
Recently, we dined at T.G.I. Friday’s to celebrate my stepdaughter’s good report card. Deemed her “favorite” restaurant, the place was busy and lively as usual. We dined on Baked Potato Skins and discovered some real bargains in the entrees, like a pasta dish I had that was under $6.
At least T.G.I. Friday’s appears to be […]
Patrikio’s: Why? Because it’s There!
Off I-435 and Holmes in Kansas City, Missouri there sits a non-descript brick building. It squats next to a fire station, across the street from Gomer’s Chicken and Liquor (that’s two stores, not one…) and bears a distinctly Greek name: Patrikio’s.
However, this plain, Greek-sounding exterior hides something entirely different. Something that must be experienced to […]
Atlanta, GA: Matador Mexican Cantina & Tequila Bar
A few steps from Vickery’s, the Matador Mexican Cantina & Tequila Bar sits quiet and nondescript. I am not a resident of the Glenwood area in Atlanta, but I adore the quaint neighborhood feel it conveys. The Matador contributes to my admiration of the area. The menu is not very extensive, and is pretty standard Mexican […]
Atlanta, GA: Little Azio Pizza & Pasta
As you drive around the metro Atlanta area, you may see several Little Azio Pizzeria restaurants scattered about. It was some time before I actually stopped into one of their stores, first experiencing their food in the Smyrna/Vinings location with a couple of girlfriends.
An Italian-style restaurant with a casual feel, the menu offers various types […]
Snuggie Pub Crawl coming to Chicago
The Chicago Tribune recently announced that a “Snuggie™” Pub Crawl is being planned for Chicago. While not organized by the Tribune, their announcement has generated a lot of buzz for the event. Dan Kuthy and David Barnes are the ones who came up with the idea and will be acting as hosts for the […]
A Celebration of Good Eating
Not your normal cooking class, the Chicago Tribune’s Celebration of Good Eating series is a food and wine event which balances the fun of a social outing with the information one expects to receive in a traditional class. To be held throughout 2009, the first in the series, “Comfort Cooking”, kicked off recently at Kendall […]
Outback’s New Menu is a Delight
Tim Gannon is a passionate man. When he speaks about the food that he’s created for Outback Steakhouse, a restaurant chain that he helped found, he exudes care, precision, dedication … and honesty. It’s not just about getting folks in the door, it’s about wooing them with bold tastes to keep them coming back again […]

Dunkin’ Donuts, Are You Kidding Me?
The office got donuts the other day and when I spied the box lid, I did a double take.
It’s bad enough that they take liberties in spelling dunking (dunkin‘) and doughnuts (donuts), but now they’re going to spell the word holidays wrong just for the sake of getting their double-D logo in there? C’mon!
