Food Writing Boot Camp Coming Soon at MediaBistro
If you are interested in reviewing restaurants, writing about food, and making some money doing it, there is a course coming up at MediaBistro in New York, that will help you get on your way to achieving that goal.
According to MediaBistro:
In this class, you will learn:
- How to write a pitch an editor can’t turn down
- Which magazines are easiest to break into
- How to edit yourself
- How to write or edit a recipe
- How to find your niche within the food-writing community
The course begins on Wednesday, October 15 and continues for eight weeks. The cost is $450.
Okay, okay. I know. It’s expensive. Breathe. I took MediaBistro’s Stiletto Boot Camp last year and it was incredibly valuable in helping me develop my voice, work on my pitches, etc. I think this course could be equally as valuable … ‘course I’ve never taken it, so I can’t say for sure. Has anyone here taken it? Anyone? Anyone?
Oh, and if you aren’t in New York, there is a Food Writing Boot Camp class that meets online starting in November. Course work is put up on a server once a week and the class meets at a set time online for helpful discussions.
Question: In this economy, what would make you more likely to take a course like this? How would you justify the expense?
