Atlanta, Georgia: Uptown Restaurant & Lounge

Atlanta: Uptown Rstaurant

Since moving to Atlanta some 10 + years ago, I have found few places with which I am completely comfortable frequenting. Why, you ask? While Atlanta has grown into a great mix of people, businesses, and culture, it has taken a little while to get here, and in many ways still has far to go. In the meantime, I am a freckled face redhead female who has been in love with the urban lifestyle since as long as I can remember, love jazz, R&B, and hip hop, and tasty, well seasoned food. One of the establishments I have grown to love, Uptown Restaurant & Lounge, has the elements I find appealing, is evolving into its own identity and branding, and welcomes all with open arms while not compromising on the vision with which it was created.

Uptown Restaurant & Lounge provides the perfect blend of upscale and urban sheik. Nestled in the middle of tall high rises and big named hotels, Uptown provides their patrons a smaller venue that brings a lively bar scene, great food, and cheerful and attentive service.

The bar offers numerous wines by the glass, tasty martini’s, and dozens of high end liquors. The menu tantalizes even the pickiest of critics with appetizers like Shrimp & Grits, Sliders, and Crab Cakes, entrees that showcase such proteins as lamb or sea bass, and desserts like Banana Split Cheesecake or Sweet Potato Pecan Pie that bring the menu full circle.

The perfect place to unwind and let loose, Uptown Restaurant & Lounge offers private cabanas and lounge areas, a private party room, wonderful dining, and on selected evenings - live entertainment. Available for parties and events for all occasions, Uptown will work with inquiries and is able to accommodate most requests, from birthday parties, a company celebration, charity events, or a get together with close friends. Although it is a frequent stop among local, young urban professionals, out-of-towners will feel at home as well.

Dress code is strictly enforced, which means tennis shoes, T-shirts, and hats are not allowed. Jeans are fine, but dress them up.

When visiting Atlanta, visit the Uptown Restaurant and Lounge, 201 Courtland Street, Atlanta, Georgia 30303 ; (404) 524-3151. Look for the restaurant to begin opening up for lunch later this summer. […] My summer has been all about fun and avoiding the stress of work.  Whether a club for the grown and sexy, sushi with friends, or a drive in with a sweetie, I have been on a mission to experience Atlanta like I have never done before.  Then, I made a scary admittance on my blog last month, which expanded my search for fun that much more.  Without repeating all the sorted details again, I divulged that I had never been bowling. That is, I have never been big ball bowling - only Candlepin once or twice as a youngin’ in Boston.  Since that admittance, I have been three times, two times at Metro Lanes, and once at 300 Atlanta.
